Weddings are supposed to be joyous occasions, right? A time for love, laughter, and the coming together of families. But in Ajogu, the royal wedding between Prince Ameh and Ajifa was anything but a fairytale. Instead, it became a cocktail of heartbreak, betrayal, and—oh—a full-blown village attack.
A bride by deception
Let’s backtrack for a second. Finding a bride for Prince Ameh was no small feat. That is, until Chief Alewo stepped in with some clever trickery to ensure his daughter, Ajifa, became the chosen one. Thanks to his schemes, the stage was set for Ajifa to marry the Prince.
But there was one setback: Ajifa wasn’t exactly thrilled about this arrangement. Her original plan was to marry the Prince for the sake of her unborn child. You see, she was carrying the late Akoji’s baby and didn’t want the stigma of being an unwed mother. So, reluctantly, she agreed to her father’s scheme.
However, when tragedy struck and she lost the baby, Ajifa’s resolve to go through with the wedding vanished. She was done. There was just one problem—the wedding was still going ahead as planned.
The big day
The wedding day arrived, and Ajogu was buzzing. The who’s who of the village and important dignitaries filled the venue, eager to witness the union. Ajifa walked in, poised and stunning, leaving everyone convinced she was ready to tie the knot.
And then came the twist.
Instead of saying “I do,” Ajifa pulled a surprise move. She brought out Iyoma, Prince Ameh’s true love, and declared she’d be stepping aside for her. The royal family was furious, while Chief Alewo was fuming. The guests? Shocked into silence. The wedding spiralled into chaos as everyone tried to make sense of what had just happened. The royal family demanded the ceremony proceed as planned, but Ajifa was having none of it.

As if the wedding drama wasn’t enough, Ajogu’s day went from bad to worse. Out of nowhere, the neighbouring village of Idu launched a surprise attack. Death and destruction swept through the village, leaving devastation in its wake.
