Father’s Day is here again, and while many dads pretend to be unfazed, deep down, they love a little pampering, especially when it comes wrapped in a bow. Whether it’s a heartfelt card, a flashy gift, or just a quiet day off from their daily chaos, dads want to feel seen and celebrated.
But let’s be honest: choosing the perfect gift for dad can be a real struggle. You thought picking out a Mother's Day gift was tough? Try deciding between a tool set or a wallet for the man who insists he doesn’t need anything but somehow also judges your gift.
That got us thinking: what would some of our favourite Africa Magic dads actually want this Father’s Day? We did some wild guessing, and here’s what we came up with:
Chief Odafe (The Yard): A tougher son or a tougher ride
Chief Odafe is not here for nonsense. If he could make one Father’s Day wish, it would be for his son, Odafe Jr., to finally stop being a crybaby and start acting like the heir to the Ajakoro motor park throne. Tough love, yeah? Anyway, if character development isn’t on the gift list, a loud, thunderous 4Runner Jeep that commands respect (and fear) wherever he goes would also do nicely. Nothing says “I’m in charge” like rolling into the park in a beast on wheels.
Idowu (The Yard): A break from bad luck
Poor Idowu. The universe has been handing this man Ls since episode one. At this point, he probably doesn’t even know it’s Father’s Day, he’s too busy dodging eviction and mourning the tragic loss of his daughter, Simi. His dream gift? Simi back, Funbi’s respect, and maybe a miracle jackpot to pay the rent. Since we can’t help with the first two (RIP Simi), we’re rooting for a lottery win, preferably the kind that comes with a house, car, and lifetime supply of peace.
Baba Landlord (My Flatmates): Peace, rent, and Amala
The only thing Baba Landlord wants more than peace is rent, preferably paid on time and in full. But with tenants like Chief Donatus, Willie, and Ubong, the struggle is real. Add in Dan’s interest in his daughter, and you can imagine why his blood pressure stays on the rise. For this Father’s Day, a stress-free day, a quiet compound, and a steaming plate of Amala with assorted meats would be the dream. Honestly, he’d take just the Amala.
Sunday Goma (Wings): A legacy that lasts
When you’re as wealthy and powerful as Sunday Goma, what do you even want for Father’s Day? A new jet? A bigger boardroom? Actually, what Goma really wants is something money can’t buy! To pass his empire on to his child and finally make Sun’Su Airlines the official national carrier. But with scandal after scandal threatening his company, he might just have to settle for a luxury wristwatch and another press release.
Damini (Tinsel): Love, trust & maybe some cologne
Damini has been through it. He wants his company back, his marriage restored, and maybe a time machine to undo all the drama. But since reconciliation is looking slim and divorce papers are looking thick, let’s just hope someone gets him a really good perfume set. Smelling nice won’t fix it all, but at least he’ll look like he has it together.
