Day 49 – 15 Sept: So, let's talk about age! Does it matter? – BBNaija

We officially have half the house left, could age be the secret?
A portrait of African men and women showing their ages

So much has been said about age in the BBNaija house but does it matter? Tonight we said goodbye to shippers Ben and Chizoba and that left us with half the house as 28 housemates entered the No Loose Guard house at launch and we are down to 14.

One of the difficult stories to navigate in the hosue is the fact that Topher lied and continues to lie to Anita about his age.

First he told her they were the same age, 30, then he said he was two years younger and his last dibs was on 26 and he chose to stick by it.

Not even Ebuka could get Topher to admit in full view of the house that he is actually 24, six years younger than her bae Anita.

Speaking of age, we thought it would be interestiong to share the ages of the final 14 housemates so we can all be aligned when we engage 😂. When The Buzz host Toke Makinwa visited the house last week, she was curious about whether Ocee and Ozee's age affected their game in the house in any way, considering that they are the eldest. The twins were clear that, nothing has made them consider their age as a hinderance or favour to the game.

Let's take a look at the No Loose Guard gangs ages, starting from the eldest to the youngest.

Ocee and Ozee are 37, KellyRae and HoH Tjay are 33, Kassia 30, Anita, Nelly and most recently Onyeka are all 29, Shaun is 28, Handi and Wanni are 27, Victoria is 25, Topher 24 and Sooj is the baby of the family at 23 years old.

Age for what, for who?

We have to highlight that on Big Brother Naija Season 9, age doesn't matter for several reasons:

1. Equal opportunities: The show offers a level playing field where contestants of different ages can compete fairly, showcasing their unique personalities, skills, and strategies.

2. Diverse perspectives: Age diversity brings varied life experiences, viewpoints, and approaches to the game, making the show more engaging and entertaining.

3. No age-related advantages: The challenges and tasks in the house are designed to be age-neutral, ensuring that housemates of any age can participate and win.

4. Focus on personality and gameplay: BBNaija emphasizes personality, social interaction, and gameplay over physical strength or age-related factors, allowing chousemates of all ages to shine.

5. Inclusive environment: By not emphasizing age, the show promotes an inclusive environment where housemates can bond, learn from each other, and grow together.

Age and HoH so far!

If it's anything to go by, the first ever Head of House after the split was Onyeka on her 29th birthday week and the current HoH is Tjay who's 33.

The likes of Anita and Nelly scooped the title twice when they were still Nelita and they were 28 and 29 respectively at that time. So, it's anyone's game.

Let's toast to half the house as the game winds down to the grand finale. Remember, in the BBNaija house, it's not about age; it's about being yourself, building relationships, and outsmarting your fellow housemates to win the grand prize!
