The red-hot Red Carpet!
The eighth edition of the AMVCAs kicks off with the eagerly anticipated Red Carpet segment where our fashion correspondents Sir Uti, Ebuka, Toke Makinwa and Sika Osei will be chatting to the stars who will descend upon it in their finest garb. If you've watched the AMVCAs before, you'll know the Red Carpet is serious business and always delivers iconic style moments. Make sure you tune in on all Africa Magic channels and GOtv at 16:00 WAT (17:00 CAT). Away from home but have great internet connection? Make sure to stream LIVE on the DStv App.
Speaking of fashion, did you know that YOU get to pick the ‘Best Dressed Male’ and ‘Best Dressed Female’ on the night? That's right, the power is in your hands! Attendees interested in this award are to be on the Red Carpet between 16:00 WAT and 17:30 WAT to have their pictures taken in a specially designed AMVCA photo booth. The Top 20 (10 men and 10 women) will be shortlisted by the AMVCA Style Council and shared on Africa Magic’s official Instagram page @africamagic. Fans will be given the opportunity to vote using the ‘Like’ icon for their favourite ‘Best Dressed’ guest between 18:00 WAT and 20:00 WAT. The male and female Nominee pictures with the highest ‘Likes’ will win the coveted awards and announced on stage.
The Main Event:
Once the Red Carpet closes, it’s time for the business of the night: handing out those all-important trophies! At 19:00 WAT (20:00 CAT) on all Africa Magic channels and GOtv (you can stream live on the DStv App too), Bonang Matheba and IK Osakioduwa will take the reigns on the main stage and Host a unforgettable night jam-packed with big wins and unforgettable entertainment.

Our Hosts with the most
Nigeria’s IK and South Africa’s Bonang? The supremacy we believe in! From hosting the biggest LIVE shows on the continent, to hosting pageants and even radio shows, this talented duo always makes sure every event is memorable. This is Bonang’s very first time on the AMVCA stage, so we’re really excited to see her in action. IK on the other hand? Thrilled to have this consummate professional back!
The performances
Ain’t no party like an AMVCA 8 party! What’s an awards show without amazing performances? Get ready for a thrill-a-minute as some of the biggest musicians on the continent sing their hearts out for all of Africa. Don't miss performances from D'Banj, Yemi Alade, Lagbaja & Rema, Kingdom Kroseide, Akunaa Okechukwu and the Nigerian Idol Season 7 Top 12.
The big winners
The most important part of the evening? Watching the best in the business walk away with trophies for a job well done! We can’t wait to hear those moving speeches and see the tears of joy that will overflow on our stage.
Our special guests
It’s all about global collaboration! Hollywood stars Tasha Smith, Bayo Akinfemi and Brandon Micheal Hall are all making an appearance at this year’s edition of the AMVCAs. They will be joined by Sidra Smith, award-winning Producer and Head of Essence’s Film and TV Studio and Grant Housley, Hollywood Producer, Writer and Director currently at Paramount Pictures.
