The journey to crown Nigeria’s next music superstar continued with a cinematic twist as the live show took fans on a blockbuster ride. Hosted by the ever-energetic IK Osakioduwa, the night was filled with emotion, surprises, and movie-magic moments complete with standout vocals and a bittersweet farewell.

Before the show's splashy landing, IK introduced the judges for the evening: Ric Hassani, Iyanya, and the enigmatic DJ Sose, making his first live appearance this season. With his signature face tattoo and calm demeanour, DJ Sose brought fresh energy to the panel. IK also took a moment to compliment the judges' sleek outfits before reminding viewers that one contestant would be leaving the show.

After a suspenseful build-up, Sally became the first contestant to be eliminated from the Top 10. Despite the disappointment, Sally remained graceful. In a beautiful closing tribute, she gave an emotional final performance of 'In Love with Another Man' by Jazmine Sullivan, leaving the crowd moved and proving her artistry one last time. IK commended her performance and reminded viewers that evictions will continue weekly, urging fans to vote to keep their favourites in the competition.

This week’s theme brought a cinematic vibe to the Idol stage, with every contestant performing a song featured in a movie. Adding to the fun, IK revealed two exciting new tasks for the judges, which include presenting golden trophies to their standout performers of the night and hosting movie trivia, where judges would have to identify the movie behind iconic quotes during the show.

Diving right back into the show, here’s how the Top 9 dazzled in a bid to woo both viewers and the judges:

Jkenova tackled this classic with heart and conviction, pushing his vocals while capturing the song’s powerful message of self-reflection.

Lawrence – 'Will You Be There' by Michael Jackson

Lawrence brought his signature smoothness and won over the crowd with a performance full of soul and sincerity.

Ellacentric – 'Lift Me Up' by Rihanna

With a calming yet powerful presence, Ellacentric delivered a touching rendition that glowed with emotional resonance.

Khristopher – 'Crazy in Love' Remix by Beyoncé

Khristopher brought energy and charisma to the stage, showing his versatility with his performance.

In one of the night's most powerful performances, Purp stunned the room. Her vocal control, emotion, and delivery earned her a standing ovation from the judges and multiple accolades.

As the night wrapped up, the Golden Trophies were handed out by the judges. Purp was awarded two golden trophies by DJ Sose and Ric Hassani, while Mikki received a trophy by Iyana. Purp emerged as the clear standout of the night, earning praise across the board. Meanwhile, DJ Sose showed he wasn’t just a music expert; he also clinched the win in the judges’ movie trivia challenge, adding a touch of humour and friendly competition to the night.
